President Jalal Talabani discussed with leader of Iraqiya Slate and leader of the Iraqi Concurrence Front (ICF), Iyad Allawi, the country’s political situation and developments in the region.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - President Jalal Talabani discussed with leader of Iraqiya Slate and leader of the Iraqi Concurrence Front (ICF), Iyad Allawi, the country’s political situation and developments in the region.

A statement issued on Saturday, Jan. 29, by the President’s Office said that Talabani paid a visit to the leader of Iraqiya Slate discussing the importance to implement agreements reached between political sides, through which the government was formed, and means to move the political process forward.

In the meeting, which was attended by Speaker Usama al-Nijaifi, President Talabani asserted the importance to execute the government’s program aimed to provide best service to the public as well as security to win citizens’ trust; he also stressed the necessity to move toward a new era during which the government institutions are built based on genuine national partnership.

For his part, Allawi praised the role assumed by President Talabani in bringing various points of view close together and safeguarding the Constitution being President and the Constitution’s Guardian
